Preview: A history of God’s chosen. This is the fifth lesson in a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.

Scripture Reading: Exodus 24:12-18.

Memory Verse: Exodus 31:18.

1. Who gave Israel her national laws according to the foregoing Scriptures? Why are the Ten Commandments called the Royal Law? Read James 2:8.
Note: When we speak of God’s Laws, we often confine them to the Ten Commandments, but that is only an outline of God’s Laws. I urge you to prayerfully read Exodus chapters 21-23, also the Books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus. You will see how they fit into the outline of the ten Royal Laws. Royal Laws are those given by the King. Daniel 6:7.
2. What other instructions did the King of Kings give to Moses during his forty days on the mountain? Exodus 25:1-8 & Exodus 25:22.
Note: It was necessary that God’s people have the proper place and manner of knowing Him and worshipping Him.
3. Was this place and method of worship essential for God to abide and fellowship with His children? Exodus 29:43-46.
4. Is it still vital to the spiritual life of God’s people that they have a place and proper manner of fellowship with Him and each other? John 4:19-24, John 14:23-26 & Hebrews 10:19-25.
Note: We can worship God anywhere because through His Holy Spirit He lives in us, but we need the love and support of the other members of the Body of Christ.
5. What was the purpose of the Sabbath? Do we need it today? Exodus 31:12-17, Acts 13:14-15, Acts 13:42-44 & Acts 16:13-15.
Note: There are many gods being worshipped, but the God who spoke the universe into being is the only living God. Exodus 31:16 -The Sabbath is a perpetual covenant, declaring to the world that His people are sanctified (set apart) by Him.
6. How is the Sabbath explained in the New Testament? Mark 2:27-28, Luke 6:5, Hebrews 4:1-6 & Hebrews 4:9.
7. What did the people do while Moses was holding a forty day conference with God? Exodus 32:1-6.
8. Was God ready to give up on these people? Exodus 32:7-10.
9. Was Jehovah bound to fulfill His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in spite of Israel’s sin? Exodus 32:33-35 & Exodus 33:1-3.
Note: God was bound to honor His promise to their forefathers. He would send them to the Promised Land, but He would not go with them.
10. How did Moses intercede for the people? Exodus 32:30-32 & Exodus 33:12-19.
Note: Because Moses found grace with God, He granted Moses his request and gave that rebellious nation another chance. For whom are you interceding?
