Preview: This is the eleventh part in a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.

Scripture Reading: Exodus 1:1-22.

Memory Verse: Genesis 15:13.

1. Discuss the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham according to the Scripture Reading and Memory Verse.
Note: The vine of righteousness continues. God had told Adam to be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1:28. Noah and Jacob were told the same thing in Genesis 9:7 and Genesis 35:11. Just as Joseph had been used by God to lead Israel into Egypt, Moses is now being directed by God to bring them out, all according to His promise to Abraham.
2. How did God preserve the life of this leader? Exodus 2:1-10.
3. Did Moses somehow know that he had been called to protect his people? What did he do? Exodus 2:11-15.
4. How did the Lord call Moses back to service when the time was right? Exodus 3:1-10.
Note: Sometimes it appears that God has forgotten His promises to us. We may feel as though our faith and obedience has been in vain, but we must always remember that God never fails. What He has promised, He is able and faithful to do. It will be accomplished in His time and way. All things work together for good when we love God and are in His calling and purpose.
5. How did Moses’ attitude change in his 40 years in the wilderness? Exodus 3:11, Exodus 3:13 & Exodus 4:1.
Note: Moses was no longer the self-assured young Prince of Egypt who thought that he could save his people without God’s help.
6. How did God assure him of success this time because He and not Moses was in charge? Exodus 3:12, Exodus 3:14-18 & Exodus 4:2-8.
7. What secret did God reveal to Moses when He reaffirmed His promise? Exodus 6:1-4.
Note: For the first time, God’s Holy name Jehovah (or Yaweh in Hebrew) was made known to man.
8. What did it mean when He told Moses that I am that I am? Exodus 3:14-15.
Note: God is saying, “I was, am, and always will be God, I will never fail or change.” We can trust Him today because He is just the same as He was then. Why do we fear anything except Him?
9. What was Jehovah about to do for Israel (His chosen branch)? Exodus 6:6-8.
10. What message was Moses to deliver to Pharaoh? Exodus 4:21-23.
Note: Israel was God’s first-born nation (or Church). He was about to establish His standards of righteousness.
