Preview: Thankfulness is a quality everyone should possess. It would be amazing if it were possible to really know how much misery there is in the world because of ingratitude, and all of it is unnecessary. No state or condition justifies one’s being unthankful.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:1-11.

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:15.

1. Why should we give thanks to God? Psalm 106:1.
2. Is ingratitude one of the sins of the last days? II Timothy 3:2.
Note: To be unthankful is equivalent to telling God He is not good. When one appreciates what God does, he will be thankful; worry and complaining will vanish.
3. What was one service of the priest? How often was that done? I Chronicles 23:30.
4. How often did Daniel offer thanks? Daniel 6:10.
5. How comprehensive should our thanksgiving be? Ephesians 5:19-20.
Note: Let us remember that one of the marks of a Christian is thankfulness. When one is filled with the Spirit of God he is always thankful, for thankfulness and holiness go together. It is impossible to be holy without being thankful or to be truly thankful without being holy.
6. How did Mordecai instruct the Jews in the Media-Persian kingdom? Esther 9:20-22.
7. Did the Jews obey? Why? Esther 9:23-27.
8. Did Jesus give us an example of giving thanks before meals? Mark 8:6-9.
9. Did Jesus emphasize that one should be thankful for His blessings? Luke 17:15-19.
Note: It is apparent through the study of the Word that individual and national thanksgiving is commendable. The whole duty of man to God is to obey through love and be thankful.
10. How should we give thanks? I Corinthians 10:31.
11. How often should we give thanks? Hebrews 13:15.
