Preview: When we know the Law and choose our own way regardless, we are sinning against the Lord. The only path to Eternal Life with our Lord is to confess our sins and repent.

Scripture Reading: Romans 6:12-23.

Memory Verse: Luke 13:5.

1. What fate awaits those who continue to practice sin according to the Scripture Reading and Memory Verse?
2. Who is called to repentance? Luke 5:30-32 & Acts 17:30.
3. Who is a sinner? Romans 3:9, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12 & James 2:10.
4. By what means is sin made known? Romans 3:20, Romans 7:7 & Romans 7:13.
Note: The Laws of God reveal sin. Where there is no law there is no transgression. All are sinners before conversion. All have sinned and all need a savior. God’s Law expresses His righteous standard and makes known His will for man. Sin means that we have failed to live up to God’s standards. Only conversion will enable us to obey His will.
5. How does this conversion take place? Romans 3:21-22, Romans 3:24-26, Romans 5:6 & Romans 5:8-11.
6. Who awakens the soul to its sinful condition? John 16:7-14.
7. Why is it dangerous not to heed the call of the Spirit? Hebrews 3:7-12 & Hebrews 3:15-19.
Note: We can come to Christ only when the Holy Spirit is calling us to come. We must open our hearts and invite Him in. He may not knock again.
8. What will eventually happen to those who continue to reject this call? Proverbs 28:13-14 & Proverbs 29:1.
9. Did God tell us that a time will come when He will withdraw His Spirit? Genesis 6:1-3 & Genesis 6:5-7.
10. Why did God not destroy man? Genesis 6:8-9.
Note: If one man had not found grace in God’s eyes the entire human race would have vanished from the earth. It is a serious thing to reject the Holy Spirit. We often underestimate the influence that one righteous person can have in a sinful situation. Noah is proof of what we ourselves can do when we are partners with God. Let this example encourage us to lay aside any sin or weight that keeps us from fully trusting the mighty power and grace of God and run the race before us with holy boldness.
