Preview: This is the final part of a three-part lesson on the subject of prayer.


Scripture Reading: John 17:1-26.

Memory Verse: John 16:26.

1. What was Jesus’ prayer for His disciples? John 17:15-19.
2. Was His prayer also for the Church today? Discuss. John 17:20-21.
3. Did Jesus find it necessary to renew His own strength through prayer? Why? Mark 1:32-35, Luke 5:12-16.
4. How earnestly did Jesus pray before choosing the twelve apostles from the disciples? Luke 6:12-16.
Note: If the Church leaders today were chosen with more prayer and less opinion, the Church would have more power and fewer problems.
5. What was Jesus’ attitude while being baptized? Luke 3:21-22.
6. What was the disciple’s request when they saw Jesus’ example of prayer? Luke 11:1.
7. What did Jesus say would happen when we ask of the Father? Luke 1:9-13.
8. How did Jesus pray for those who crucified Him? Luke 23:33-34.
Note: Only Christ in us will enable us to pray for our enemies.
9. What was Stephen’s prayer while he was being stoned to death? Acts 7:55-60.
Note: This also must be our attitude toward our enemies.
