Preview: The importance of humility to our salvation. This is the second part of a two-part lesson on this subject.
Scripture Reading: Matthew 20:20-28.
Memory Verse: James 3:1.
1. Can we see from the foregoing Scriptures the importance of letting God choose our position and calling in the Body of Christ?
Note: It is only when we fulfill God’s commission for our lives that we can glorify Him and not our own gratification. Humility is the opposite of pride.
2. How did Paul address this matter to the Church at Philippi? Philippians 2:3-4.
3. What example did he point them to? Philippians 2:5-8.
4. How was he rewarded? Philippians 2:9-11.
Note: Jesus is still our example today. If He is the Lord of our lives, we will also have a servant’s heart. God will in turn reward us accordingly.
5. What were Peter’s instructions to the ministers? I Peter 5:1-4.
6. Why did God spare King Josiah of Judah when He punished Israel for their wickedness? II Chronicles 34:24-28.
7. How did the king respond to God’s forgiveness? II Chronicles 34:29-31.
8. How did one man’s humility affect a whole nation? II Chronicles 34:32-33.
Note: Only when our faith and obedience is to God can He bless us. Humility and disobedience do not go together.

10. Should we humble ourselves if we want to be honored by others? Luke 14:10-11.
