Counterfeit Religion: Part 2 of 2

Preview: This is a continuation of a previous lesson of the same title. One cannot truly call on God unless he believes in Him. When one attempts to call on God, thinking he does not have to obey, he does not believe and God will not hear. The great danger is that it is possible to go through life thinking He is in our company.


Scripture Reading: Romans 1:17-25.

Memory Verse: Hosea 4:6.

1. What will happen if we call upon the Lord? Romans 10:13.
2. Is that promise conditional? Romans 10:14-15.
Note: To believe in God means to be obedient to His will. False teaching emphasizes belief without obedience, which amounts to unbelief.
3. After one has been converted is he still a sinner? I Corinthians 6:9-11 & Revelation 1:5.
4. How are we saved? Ephesians 2:8-9.
5. Unto what are we saved? Ephesians 2:10.
6. What does the grace of God do? Titus 2:11-12.
7. For whom is the law made? I Timothy 1:9-10.
Note: Counterfeit religion attempts to bypass law. Because of this, men follow tradition instead of God’s Word. It is true that in the law God gave to Moses there were many things that were a type of Christ and the office He would fill. Those things met their fulfillment on the cross. There were also laws that were added because of transgression.
8. What sign did Jesus give that would prove who He was? Matthew 12:38-40.
9. What was done to hinder that sign from being fulfilled? Matthew 27:62-66.
10. What did they do when their efforts failed? Matthew 28:11-15.
Note: The same condition exists today. False leaders will not hesitate to lie to people rather than see them accept the truth. There were many people in that day who believed what they were told (Matthew 28:15) and were deceived by it.
