Preview: The effect of eating on our lives. This is the first part of a two-part lesson on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Romans 14:13-23.

Memory Verse: I Corinthians 10:31.

1. What brought about the first sin? Genesis 2:17 & Genesis 3:6.
2. For what did Esau sell his birthright? Genesis 25:29-34.
3. What resulted because he ate rather than trusting God for his strength? Hebrews 12:16-17.
4. Did the people in Moses’ day have their hearts and minds on God? Exodus 32:1-7.
5. Did the people in Noah’s day have their hearts and minds on God? Matthew 24:38.
6. Why was God displeased with many of the Israelites? I Corinthians 10:7.
7. What command was given to the man of God who had just restored the King’s hand? I Kings 13:8-9.
8. What did the prophet do when the two sons told him what had happened? I Kings 13:11-15.
9. What did the old prophet say when the man of God told how he was commanded? I Kings 13:16-18.
10. Did the man of God obey God or the false prophet? I Kings 13:19.

Note: We see in the Scriptures how the desire for food and eating have caused some to forget God. This can very well happen in our lives if we are not temperate in all we do. A true statement is: “Some people eat to live, while others live to eat.” It is good for each one to consider this statement and see which group we are in. If we are not careful, we will be putting food before God.
