Preview: This series of lessons is dedicated as an introduction to Jesus. This is the seventh lesson in a thirteen-part series on this subject.

Pre-reading: John 3:13-21, I Corinthians 10:1-14, James 1:12-22, Revelation 3:9-12.

Scripture Reading: Genesis 3:1-19.

Memory Verse: Romans 5:12.

1. What can we see from the foregoing Scriptures of how disobedience broke man’s perfect relationship with God and made it necessary to be redeemed?
2. How did Paul further explain man’s original position with God? Hebrews 2:6-8.
3. How is this same message found in the Old Testament? Psalm 8:3-9.
Note: In the beginning God made man in His own image. He was perfect in every way. He had dominion over everything, but through his choice to disobey, he separated himself from God, and now he must be redeemed.
4. Where do we find the first promise of a Redeemer? Genesis 3:15.
5. Who are the seeds of the Serpent? Matthew 3:4-8, John 8:13-14, John 8:41-44, John 8:47.
6. Who is the Seed of the Woman? Isaiah 7:14-16, Matthew 1:18-21.
Note: The seeds of the Serpent are those who choose to obey the Devil. The Seed of the Woman is Jesus Christ first, then all who are born of the Spirit through His Blood. The Serpent will continue to try to destroy Christ and His converts, but Jesus has gained victory over him, and one day He will destroy him by fire.
7. How did John and Paul describe this victory? John 1:10-13, Hebrews 2:9-11, Hebrews 2:14.
8. Who was our Savior before He became the Seed of the Woman? John 1:1, John 1:14-17.
9. Why was it necessary for Him to come in human flesh? Hebrews 2:14-18, Galatians 4:1-7.
Note: Only by taking on the form and nature of man was Jesus able to prove to His adversary the Devil and to the human race that man can live above sin.
10. How and by whom was Jesus tempted? Matthew 4:1-11.
