Preview: It is of extreme importance that we understand what Christ meant to do while He was with us and what burdens He relieved us from when He died for us. Please read the article “What Did Christ Abolish?” and “The Two Laws” from our articles section on the website in order to increase your understanding of this subject.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 9:1-15.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:10.

1. Did Christ come to abolish the Ten Commandments? Matthew 5:17.
2. How long did He say they would stand? Matthew 5:18.
3. Why can’t we break even one Commandment? Matthew 5:19, Matthew 5:21 & James 2:10-11.
4. Did Christ abolish the Sabbath day? Luke 6:5-6 & Hebrews 4:9-10.
5. Did He change the day? Hebrews 4:4, Hebrews 4:8 & Exodus 31:16-17.
Note: We can see that the Ten Commandments were not abolished by Christ, but practiced. They were not nailed to the cross as many false prophets teach. Christ is Lord of the Sabbath and He kept it. As the Scripture has said, the seventh day was the only day hallowed and sanctified by the Lord God. If Christ changed the day He would have spoken of another day in the Scriptures. Man has substituted the first day for the divine seventh day Sabbath.
6. Has Christ warned us of adding and taking away from His Word? Revelation 22:18-19.
7. What did the first covenant contain? Hebrews 9:1 & Hebrews 9:9-10.
8. How was the tabernacle made? Hebrews 9:2-5.
9. For what purpose was it made? Hebrews 9:6-7.
10. Was the way of the holiest made manifest yet? Why? Hebrews 9:8-10.
11. Was there fault found in the first covenant? Hebrews 8:7-8.
12. Was this new covenant made? Hebrews 8:10-12.
13. What happened when the Lamb of God became the sacrifice? Matthew 27:50-51.
14. Who then became our High Priest? Hebrews 9:11.
15. Why were the sacrificial law and the burnt offerings abolished? Hebrews 10:1-4.
16. Was Christ’s sacrifice to die once sufficient for our redemption? Hebrews 9:12-14.
17. What was abolished when Christ died? Colossians 2:14.
18. Why was it necessary that Christ should die? Hebrews 9:15-17.
19. How do we enter into the holiest now? Hebrews 10:19-20.
20. What promise is made to those who look for Christ’s return? Hebrews 9:28.
Note: The sacrificial law and burnt offerings did not serve to take away the sins of the people. God saw a need for a more sufficient plan of redemption for man. In order to do away with the old insufficient way, He gave the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, once to die for the sins of all, that through His shed blood on Calvary, He has obtained eternal redemption or us. He is now set down on the right hand of God and can save to the uttermost them that come to God by Him, and makes intercession for us, unto salvation.
