Ten Virgins

Preview: The parable of the ten virgins illustrates the need for constant vigilance and readiness for Christ’s coming. 


Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:1-13. 

Memory Verse: Matthew 25:2. 

1. Why were five virgins foolish? Matthew 25:3. 
2. What does the lamp signify? Proverbs 6:23. 
3. What does the oil signify? Psalm 45:7. 
Note: Thus we have the lamp, the Ten Commandments, the Word of God, and the oil, which signifies the Holy Spirit. The foolish did have the Word, but by their careless life the Spirit (the oil) disappeared. They knew the Commandments but failed to commune with the Lord. 
4. When the foolish came to the shut door what did the bridegroom answer? Matthew 25:12. 
Note: They had forgotten God and God had forgotten them. 
5. Why is it essential to have the Spirit of Christ? Romans 8:9. 
6. Were both the wise and foolish asleep? Matthew 25:5. 
7. Who gave the midnight cry? Matthew 25:6. 
Note: The wise and foolish were all sleeping. The messenger must have been the watchman, the overseer that gave the alarm, “…the bridegroom cometh”. 
8. How will God’s watchman respond while on duty? Isaiah 62:6. 
9. How does God intend for His followers to act as they know the Bridegroom is at hand? I Thessalonians 5:6. 
10. What is the purpose of God’s Church? What was Jesus command to the Church? Matthew 28:19-20. 
11. Why should the followers of Christ search for lost sheep? Jeremiah 16:16, Mark 16:15, Mark 16:20 & John 10:16. 
12. Why will the love of some wax cold? Matthew 24:12. 
Note: Sad indeed, the foolish were strangers to the Master. 
13. Will the Lord cut His work of righteousness short in the last day? Romans 9:28. 
14. Will Christ return in peaceable times? Daniel 12:1. 
15. What will take place in the cemeteries? Daniel 12:2. 
16. Will the wicked understand? Daniel 12:10. 
17. Whom will the Lord reveal His secrets to? Amos 3:7.
