Preview: A look at why we should trust the Bible.
Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3: 1-18.

1. How much of the Bible was inspired by God and how does he use it to communicate with us? 2 Timothy 3:16.
Note: Every book of the Old and New Testaments were inspired by God. The Old Testament reveals God’s plan for His people before Jesus’ birth, and the New Testament describes the entire human life of Jesus, His death, and God’s plan and instructions for His Church today.
2. How reliable can the Word of God be when it has been copied and translated multiple times throughout history? Isaiah 40: 8.
Note: God’s inspiration has continued through the translations and copying of His divine Word throughout history. Recent historical discoveries have further confirmed its accuracy and reliability. It is the duty of God’s people to study and reaffirm they have not strayed from the Word of God.
3. Why did God give us the Bible? Psalm 119: 102-105.
4. How do we receive God’s truth and receive sanctification? John 17: 17.
5. How has God made it possible for us to know the truth? John 8: 31-32.
6. What must we always take into account when we are reading the Bible? 2 Peter 1:20-21.
Note: When we let the Bible explain itself instead of assigning meanings ourselves, we avoid private interpretations. God’s meaning is revealed through further reading of the scriptures and continued study.

Note: We are always to take time to study the Bible ourselves, and not just rely on the word of others. In this way we can study and learn God’s truth.

Conclusion: The Bible is the inspired word of God that was given to us to provide a path to a sinless, spiritual, peaceful life that will allow us to claim the promises of eternal life with our Creator and Savior.
