Preview: People of faith are heirs to God’s promises.


Scripture Reading: Luke 24:36-53.

Memory Verse: Acts 2:18.

1. What were Jesus’ last words to the disciples, and the promise of the Father? Luke 24:49.
2. What was His next move after making this promise? Luke 24:50-51.
3. What were the instructions Jesus gave to His followers? Did they heed His instructions? Acts 2:1.
4. Did they receive the promise of the Father? If so, in which manner? Acts 2:2-4.
5. Of what did the outsiders accuse them? Acts 2:12-13.
6. How did Peter respond to the men mocking them? Acts 2:14-15.
Note: So many say today that we should not try to quench a false report. The Lord is not pleased with false rumors which are injuring the Church.
7. How did Paul instruct Titus to deal with false rumors? Titus 1:10-11.
Note: May we all see our duty in defending the truth and quenching false reports which may be against the Church, or individuals. The spirit of the day is to allow the tongue-waggers to have their own way. However, that was not the spirit of Peter or Paul.
8. What Scripture did Peter refer to, proving it was the promise of the Father? Acts 2:16.
9. Did Peter quote the sayings of Joel on the day of Pentecost in the ears of the mockers? Why? Acts 2:17-21.

Note: If Peter would have kept silent, and not tried to quench the false rumor, those men on the outside may never have been saved.
