Preview: God has set up a perfect set of rules that we need to implement in our everyday lives. When done according to God’s will, we can expect perfect peace and harmony within our family lives. We have a responsibility to God, ourselves, and our children to make sure that we raise them in a godly fashion.
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:1-10.
Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:4.
1. Are parents commanded to train their children? Proverbs 22:6.
2. How are they to train them? Ephesians 6:4 (last part).
3. How diligently should parents teach their children the Word? Deuteronomy 6:6-7 & Deuteronomy 11:19.
4. What principle of living should be placed before the children? I Timothy 4:12.
Note: The sins of selfishness and disobedience, not only for children, but for all mankind, are foretold for the last days.
5. Why did God reprove Eli? I Samuel 3:12-13.
6. What are some of the fruits of a properly trained child? Proverbs 29:17.
7. What is the result when a child is left to himself? Proverbs 29:15.
8. What helps drive foolishness from the heart of a child? Proverbs 22:15.
Note: The disrespect of children to parents is the result of the neglect of parents in following the Word of God in training children. The average child of this world has taken the reign of government in their hands. Many of the parents stand back as if they are afraid of their own children.
9. Is there danger of delaying correction too long? Proverbs 19:18.
10. Will correction save the child’s soul? Proverbs 23:13-14.
11. What does proper correction show- love or hate? Proverbs 13:24.
Note: From this we learn that all child training must be done in love, and that proper training is an evidence of true love. How happy will those parents be who can say in that day, “Behold, here am I, and the children that thou gavest to me.”
