Preview: How to know that you are being taught true Christianity.

Scripture Reading: I John 4:1-6.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 13:9.

1. Is there danger in listening to teachers and preachers who do not teach all of the truth according to the foregoing Scriptures?
Note: Only those who are established and grounded in the faith, study Scriptures daily, and communicate with God can examine every spirit to test its truthfulness.
2. Should we avoid preachers and teachers who profess to know God when their own lives are filled with sin? Matthew 15:8-9, Titus 1:10-14 & Titus 1:16.
3. Must we be careful about our fellowship with so-called miracle workers? II Thessalonians 2:7-15 & II Thessalonians 2:17.
Note: We cannot judge a minister because of the miracles that they seem to perform. Look beyond the miracles and see how their life resembles Christ.
4. Can false leaders appear as an angel of light? II Corinthians 11:13-15.
5. Did Peter warn us against false prophets? II Peter 2:1-3.
6. Should we believe it if an angel from Heaven brings a Gospel message contrary to God’s Word? Galatians 1:6-11.
7. Did Jesus warn us that many false prophets would come in His Name and deceive many? Matthew 24:11-13.
8. Did Jesus say that these counterfeit prophets would appear so real that if it were possible that they would deceive the very elect of God? Matthew 24:4-5 & Matthew 24:24.
9. How can God’s people make a proper judgment when a spiritual leader is very popular and his message seems to be wise? Matthew 7:13-20.
Note: When we see great crowds attending services we must check out the message and the messenger. Jesus said the right road to eternal life is straight, narrow, and unpopular; few will travel it.
10. Why are so many deceived by counterfeit leaders? John 7:15-18, Romans 16:17-19 & II Timothy 4:3-4.
Note: The broad way appears more enticing to those who want to feel safe in some religion and still retain their own will. It is much easier to go along with the popular masses than it is to stand on unpopular truths. Only those who have exchanged their will for God’s will can know the truth and be able to stand. We must put on the whole armor of God and stand, regardless of what others do. Ephesians 6:10-18 & Galatians 5:1.
11. What will be the sad fate of those who sought the popular way? Matthew 7:21 & Matthew 7:23.
