Jesus Affirms His Sonship

Preview: This lesson proves that Christ was sent to us by His Father God and that we too may become His children in the promise. 


Scripture Reading: Luke 2:46-49. 

Memory Verse: John 6:38. 

1. What tells us that Jesus is the Son of God? Matthew 1:20-21. 
2. When did Christ begin to affirm His sonship? Luke 2:49. 
3. How did Christ affirm He was the Son of God during His time of sorrow? Matthew 26:39 & Matthew 26:42. 
Note: Christ affirmed and accepted sonship by doing His Father’s (God’s) will, and by trying to please Him. 
4. How can we prove that Christ’s mission was to do His Father’s will? John 4:34, John 5:30 & John 6:38. 
5. Was Christ sent by God? Why? John 3:16-17. 
6. Was God pleased with His Son? How did He show it? Matthew 3:16-17. 
Note: To be saved we, too, must affirm our sonship. Christ is our pattern, and we must follow His pattern exactly as it is written: accept God as our Father and be joint heirs with Christ in inheriting His Kingdom.
