Scripture Reading: Mark 2:1-12.

Memory Verse: Matthew 4:23.

1. Do we find in the foregoing Scriptures that Jesus was the Author of healing? Discuss.
2. What qualified Him for this position? Isaiah 53:5-6, Matthew 8:16-17.
3. How did Peter affirm Isaiah’s prophecy? I Peter 2:21-24.
Note: Not only did Christ take our sins to the cross but He also suffered and died with all of the sicknesses and diseases that man will ever contract. “By His stripes we are healed.”
4. Who gave the disciples power over sickness and unclean spirits? Matthew 10:1, Mark 3:13-15.
5. Is healing still a gift of the Spirit? Discuss. I Corinthians 12:1, I Corinthians 12:8-9.
6. Who alone appoints these gifts? I Corinthians 12:28-31.
7. What is the best gift and why? I Corinthians 14:1-4.
Note: Healing is a wonderful gift, a great promise of God, but this mortal body will one day perish and return to dust. The Gospel of Christ and His Kingdom (prophesying) will last through eternity.
8. What else were Christ and His disciples doing while they were administering healing? Matthew 4:23, Matthew 9:35, Luke 9:1-2.
Note: Even more important than healing is the good news of the Gospel. It offers hope for this life and the world to come.
9. What are we instructed to do when we are sick? James 5:14-16.
10. Why do you think it is dangerous to continue in sin when God grants us healing? John 5:4-9, John 5:14.
Note: When we seek and receive God’s divine healing our past sins are also forgiven. It is a very serious offense if we continue to practice sin.
