Preview: God’s children exist to worship Him and His Holy Word, and to be like a light to those who have not yet received the Word of the Lord, bringing them out of darkness and into God’s world.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:15-20.

Memory Verse: Philippians 2:15.

1. What were the words of Jesus to those that were in darkness? Matthew 5:16.
2. What was the message that Jesus delivered? Matthew 5:17.
3. How far-reaching was the light of Jesus? John 8:12.
4. What will the light be to the individual? John 9:5.
5. Will there be any occasion for stumbling to them who have the light of Jesus? Why or why not? John 11:9.
6. What will happen to those who do not have the light? John 11:10.
7. How long will the light remain? John 12:35.
8. How should we regard the light of Jesus? John 12:36.
9. To what is the Church of God compared in this world? Matthew 5:14.
Note: A city is not one person. A city is made up of a large body of people, like as the Church; it is not one member, but many. This body of people is to be a light to the world.
10. Who is able to cover and to hide our light from the world? Matthew 5:15.
11. Why should we allow our lights to shine? Matthew 5:16.
12. What will this light do to those that reject it? John 3:19.
13. Why will those that hate the light come to it? John 3:20.
14. Why will those that do righteousness come to the light? John 3:21.
15. Were men willing to accept the light when Jesus came? John 5:35.
16. Will the light uncover hidden things? I Corinthians 4:5.
17. Does the Devil imitate this light? II Corinthians 11:14.
Note: It is possible for the Devil to imitate the light and he will do so to deceive, if possible, the children of God. If the children of God can walk, imitate, and follow the light of Jesus, it should be no strange thing, but rather we should expect that the Devil can imitate Christ.
18. Why should His children walk in the light of Christ? Ephesians 5:8.
19. How many of God’s children are the light of the world? I Thessalonians 5:5.
20. Can the enemies approach and destroy this light? Why or why not? I Timothy 6:16.
Note: Let us be sunbeams for Jesus. Let our light shine that men may see our good works. Let us not forget there is more than one kind of light.
