Preview: Baptism must be performed in a very specific way according to the Bible. This lesson will cover the name in which we are baptized under in order to ensure we are doing this correctly and according to the will of God.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 3:11-17.

Memory Verse: Acts 4:12.

1. In whose name should we baptize? Matthew 28:19.
2. Whose name was Paul baptized in? Acts 9:11-19.
3. In whose name did Phillip baptize? Acts 8:11-12.
Note: It does not say he baptized in the name of Jesus only. The word “Only” has been added.
4. What did Peter say to the people on the day of Pentecost? Acts 2:37-38.
Note: Again, it does not say Jesus’ name only. They all recognize the Father and the gift of His Son, but they had committed a great sin against Jesus, and they had to repent to Him and be baptized as Jesus commanded them; in the name of the Father (Jehovah), and the name of the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost.
5. In whose name was the household of Cornelius baptized? Acts 10:44-48.
Note: There was no record given as to what name they used. Should we baptize with no name because it is not recorded in Acts 10?
6. Who has all power of Heaven and earth? Matthew 28:18.
Note: If Christ has all power of Heaven and earth, we had better obey Him, and take no chance on following the practice of the apostles and let us not baptize in titles. Father is a title, so is mother, and son. None of the three are names. We must follow the command of Jesus. He died for us.
7. Was God alone in the creation of Adam? Discuss. Genesis 1:26.
Note: “US” is plural and not singular.
8. Who did Nebuchadnezzar see in the fiery furnace? Daniel 3:25.
9. Who gave Jesus the people He converted? John 10:29.
10. How are Jesus and the Father described? John 10:30.
11. How did the Jews accept Jesus’ statement? John 10:31.
Note: It is true that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one in spirit, and are perfectly agreed, but they are three separate entities.

12. What did Jesus pray for regarding His followers? John 17:21.
Note: This is a mystery, and few can understand how many believers can be one in Christ.
13. What did Jesus understand of men's ability to understand these sayings? Matthew 19:11.
Note: Fellow students, let no one deceive you on this question. Jesus has a Father, therefore, He is the Son. The Holy Ghost is not the Son. Enough has been said to convince the world.
14. When Jesus was baptized, and the Spirit of God descended from Heaven, and a voice said: “This is my beloved son,” was Jesus that voice from Heaven and the Holy Ghost? Discuss. Matthew 3:16-17.
